A famous Black actress in Hollywood, Friday first came to fame portraying jazz artist Mary Lou Williams in the Astor Place Theatre play Zodiac Suite. She would later star in supporting roles in the comedy film Hot Potato, and alongside Ryan Gosling in the action film Shockwave before securing the lead role in the A24 independent drama Sunk, which was critically acclaimed at the Sundance Film Festival.

Friday was previously in a relationship with an actor named James, who played a pilot in a hit film. Whilst immersed in the Redream recreation of Hotel Reverie, when the simulation glitched she became romantically involved with an increasingly sentient digital AI clone of deceased actress Dorothy Chambers.
